Risk & Vulnerability Assessments
A Risk & Vulnerability Assessment is an in-depth comprehensive inspection and report to identify weaknesses or gaps in a safety and security program of any location, asset or cyber network. An assessment is a vital piece in the construction of your safety & security plan.
The risk portion of the assessment identifies recognized threats and the probability that these threats will create loss, damage or worse to your assets. Assets can include people, property, finances and more. The vulnerability portion of the assessment identifies, quantifies and prioritizes the risks and vulnerabilities of your safety and security plan, physical structures and assets under your control. An assessment can be performed on any property type; schools, campuses, houses of worship, daycare facilities, residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and more. An assessment may also include more than just a physical assessment and may include an assessment of your cyber security as well as an assessment of written policy.
The completed assessment report provides recommendations and standards for correction and improvement. The assessment report also identifies positive practices that are in place and encourages the continuation of such practices. Please contact our office to design a risk and vulnerability assessment package that fits your needs and budget.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED – pronounced sep-ted) is a philosophy based on the theory that proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in both the fear of, and incidence of, crime and an improvement in the quality of life in a community. CPTED was originally coined and formulated by criminologist C. Ray Jeffery and a more limited approach, termed defensible space, was developed concurrently by architect Oscar Newman. The preceding concepts combined with the “broken windows theory”, created by social scientists James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling, create the framework for the principles of CPTED.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a set of design principles used to discourage crime and promote safety & security. The concept is simple: Environments can be designed to prevent damage from the force of the elements and natural disasters; they should also be designed to protect assets from crime & exploitation. CPTED principles are based on anticipating the thought processes of a potential offender and creating an environment that discourages follow-through. CPTED has the added advantage of creating a sense of security and well-being among employees and tenants. When CPTED is put into practice, the resulting environment, including the building, its surroundings and assets, will discourage or impede criminal behavior, and at the same time encourage honest citizens to keep a watchful eye.
CPTED strategies can be applied in every setting and offer guidelines that property owners, developers, landscape designers and remodelers can apply to their homes, schools, daycares, houses of worship, commercial, industrial, institutional and public properties. The four overlapping CPTED strategies are: Natural Surveillance, Natural Access Control, Territorial Reinforcement, and Maintenance. Applied properly, CPTED is invisible to the lay person.

Corporate Education

Education and training are important tools for informing workers and managers about workplace hazards and controls so they can work more safely and be more productive. Another role of education and training, however, is to provide workers and managers with a greater understanding of the safety and security program itself, so that they can contribute to its development and implementation.
Education and training provides employers, managers, supervisors, and workers with:

-
Knowledge and skills needed to do their work safely and avoid creating problems that could place themselves or others at risk.
-
Awareness and understanding of workplace safety and security and how to identify, report, and control situations.
-
Topics included, but not limited to work place violence, safety, security, emergency action plans, implicit bias training, fraud prevention and loss prevention just to name a few. More active event attacks happen in commerce than any other industry. Some companies may wish to tailor a training session to their needs and priorities.
-
We are also equipped to provide threat assessments in reference to targeted violence.

Public & Community Education
Conducting public and community education is a pillar of community policing. To help accomplish this mission it is important that we educate the public. Police officers go through several months of training to do their job. Now we can help you understand what you can do to protect yourself and help the police in your community prevent crime. Community Policing is generally defined as a law enforcement philosophy that allows officers to continuously operate in the same area in order to create a stronger bond with the citizens living and working in that area. This allows public safety officers to engage with local citizens and prevent crime from happening instead of responding to incidents after they occur.

In its simplest form, community policing creates a partnership between law enforcement and citizens. The more involved law enforcement is with the citizens they are sworn to protect, the more the citizens can help law enforcement achieve their goals.
What are the benefits of an effective community policing structure?
-
Citizens having a more favorable view of their local police department
-
Improved trust between law enforcement and citizens
-
More accurate information from citizens regarding criminal activity in their community
-
Better understanding of the needs of citizens and their expectations of the police
We are available to provide training to public institutions such as cities, schools, houses of worship, daycares, communities, retirement living facilities and more.
